Raqs and Goth
I love the point when raqs sharqi meets goth (at about 3.20 on left counter).

(p.s. may take some time to load, but it's worth the wait.)

wow. i watched it twice! ;)
i.. watched.. countless times.
streaming is easier at my office's singtel line somewhat. strange.
do you still dance, sinlady?
tuti - you liked it that much? the strange thing is i never paid much attention to the goth dancers, but now seeing this group (which i think is the best worldwide), i have to say i have respect for their dance form.
i still dance :) i hope for a long time more...
i like the way the goth dancer mouthed some stuffs when she started slitering. eh, for the wrong reasons i like the dance form? lol.
i will be watching it again. it is very much easier to stream it from singtel than starhub. almost no time needed for download. both broadband.
good that you keep dancing.
i find it exotic. brings out the female form/individualism very well. i must understand it more, from the point of view from a dancer. why they choose this art form.
i have a business associate who plays for belly dancers in the states when he has the time.
i was surprised to find a joint like this in singapore too. forgot the place but i read about it.
tuti - there's no wrong reason to appreciate any dance form. i thought the dancer was mouthing something but i thought i imagined it :)
this group of goth dancers look like they are lifestylers rather than just putting on costumes for the show.
i am amazed how insightful you are- bellydance is individualistic :)
your business associate is a tabla (drum) player?
lastly - the place you read about is one of the middle eastern cafes in arab street?
wah, this is almost of Q&A post haha
lol. answer time!
i can't remember the place. but i don't think it's in arab street. mentally it felt out of place when i read it. something like clark quay.. so, arab street is okay to belly dance. hahah. so stereotyping.
my friend plays the oud. amongst many other instruments.
this one with belly dancing.

tuti - i think the place you read about closed after 3 months, for good reason. tell you about it another time.
oud is a beautiful instrument. your friend is talented.
